Kenya achieved the highest internet penetration rate in Africa in 2023, with 87.2% of its population connected to the internet, according to Internet World Stats (IWS). Stanley Kamanguya, CEO of Kenya’s ICT authority, attributed this progress to the widespread use of mobile devices. Using kenya as an example, Kamanguya stated that there are 1.5 mobile devices per person in the country, with kenyans owning between 70 and 80 million devices despite a population of 55 million.
