The senate has upheld the decision to impeach Robert Monda as Kisii County deputy governor. Monda, who is accused of gross violation of the constitution and law, abuse of office, gross misconduct, and crimes under national law, becomes the first deputy governor to be impeached, since the start of devolution in Kenya, in 2013. The court now remains the only option available for the impeached Kisii Deputy Governor to protect his political career.
